What is GRS Certification and Why you Should Care about it
Updated: Mar 26, 2021
Being more sustainable is a part of our strategy.
What is GRS?
It may not be as well-known as other sustainability certifications, but GRS sure is something you need to look out for if you are a brand or a company evolving in the fashion industry.
The Global Recycle Standard is an "international, voluntary, full product standard that sets out requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions", according to the GRS Developped in 2018, Global Recycle Standard (GRS) certification verifies a product really does have recycled materials. GRS certification is administered by the Textile Exchange, a global non-profit dedicated to driving changes in sourcing and manufacturing and ultimately reducing the textile industry's impact on the world's water, soil, air, and people.
GRS certification ensures that when companies like us say we are sustainable, the word actually means something. But GRS certification goes beyond traceability and labeling. It also verifies safe and equitable working conditions, along with environmental and chemical practices used in production.
The process of getting certified and staying certified isn't easy. We have been making all the paperwork preparations for the last few months, in order to be GRS certified.
We are on the road to get our GRS certification in about a month's time.
